If you get at least one other site to link to your site, Google and all the other search engines will find your site by themselves.

You could also check out sitemaps at http://www.google.com/webmasters/

google.com/webmaster is best site for registering your website in Google. However, there are various other companies which are offering the facility of hosting website. Now it is on you that what is your requirement........
